Your team notices repeated taps on the cart button. A recording helps you understand what the shopper experienced. The next conversation is about the business: how often is this happening, which shoppers encounter it, and what should development investigate first?

Those questions belong in the same review. Here is a practical way to use your existing experience research alongside Dozenfold’s Shopify issue evidence, without assuming the tools capture the same sessions or connect automatically.

First, know which product you are evaluating

Hotjar’s tools are now part of Contentsquare. The current vendor overview includes heatmaps, recordings and surveys alongside broader capabilities such as error monitoring, performance monitoring and funnels. An old comparison that describes Hotjar only as heatmaps can miss the product you are choosing today.

Evaluate the actual capabilities and configuration available to your account. This guide describes a working process, not a feature-absence checklist or an integration announcement.

Start with the question your team already has

The questionUseful place to beginBring to the shared review
Where are shoppers hesitating?Your heatmaps, recordings and researchPage group, time window, device and a concrete observation
Is there a captured technical failure?Dozenfold issues and affected event journeysError, request or action context, affected sessions and release
Which issue deserves development time? The issue’s impact evidenceRevenue estimate, both purchase rates and the measured or directional label
What should the developer inspect?Developer evidence and source contextObserved path, environment, stack and an available source map

In a fictional cart investigation, qualitative research shows shoppers trying the delivery selector repeatedly. Dozenfold shows a recurring cart update failure concentrated on Mobile Safari. Together, those are useful leads for a developer to reproduce the same interaction. Neither observation alone proves why every shopper left.

Compare the context before connecting the story

Use the same period, page group, browser and device when you move between tools. Record a recent theme release if it is relevant. A visual pattern across product pages is not automatically the same problem as a request failure in the cart.

Dozenfold’s session view is a captured event journey, not DOM replay. It connects observed pages, commerce actions, errors and outcomes. It does not reconstruct the screen or collect typed values. The interactive product example shows the kind of context a developer can inspect.

There is currently no native Hotjar or Contentsquare integration, recording import or automatic cross-tool session join. Consent, sampling and capture configuration can differ. Compare groups and observations without claiming that one recording is the exact Dozenfold session unless you have independently established that link through an authorized process. Do not introduce cross-session tracking just to make a demo look connected.

Give the issue a business case

An issue-level revenue estimate can help the merchant choose the next fix. Inspect its comparison, affected population and selected period. Dozenfold labels the amount measured or directional by its 95% interval, and keeps observed issues visible while an estimate is still building.

That amount is an estimate associated with an issue, not a tally of confirmed lost orders. It is not a forecast derived by multiplying a short observation into a year. The revenue methodology explains the inputs and qualification.

Close the review with an owner and a follow-up

Take the example Developer brief as a model for the handoff: what failed, the observed path, the affected environment and the source context. Keep the research observation beside it in your own task. Ask the developer to identify the next reproduction or code check, rather than assigning a guessed fix.

After the change, review the same interaction and the issue’s recurrence under observed traffic. Quiet activity needs enough relevant observation before your team can call the result convincing.
